We took Jeremy to Lumberjack Days in Stillwater today. It was a fun time and the weather was beautiful! I got a chance to try out the new ring-sling that I found at Once Upon A Child this week. It worked great! When Jeremy got fussy in the stroller, I wore him in the sling and he cheered up right away (and then went to sleep)! I took a few pictures of him in the car seat on the way home – he was pretty smiley and happy. It was a nice day for everyone! We were having so much fun watching the lumberjack competitions, we forgot to get a picture of Jeremy in the sling, so maybe another time we’ll get a few. But for now, here are some other pictures from the last few weeks.
Here is Jeremy on the way home from Lumberjack Days this afternoon. He was having a fun time!
This is a video of Jeremy “talking” to some stuffed animals and getting drool wiped and dabbed from his mouth. It was a hot day and I gave him a sponge bath to cool him down, thus the naked butt!
I was going to buy a Bumbo at a nearby garage sale which started today, but I had read some things that made me think twice. Bumbo seats are meant for babies from 3 months to 14 months who are able to hold their heads up, but I’ve read a few customer reviews saying that their younger babies were barely able to fit into the seat, and their legs were squeezed so tight they got purple feet!
Since Jeremy is a big boy for his age (3 months next week, and probably about 18 lbs now!), I decided to buy a Bumbo at Target last night so we could try it on for size. If it was a good fit, then I’d buy the one at the garage sale this morning and return the brand new one. It was not a good fit, oh goodness no! Jeremy’s “Potato O’Legs” (as Jon calls them) were squished and squeezed with his skin getting pulled, and did not look at all comfortable in the little seat! So I will return it to Target today, and not bother looking for a secondhand one anymore. Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait for him to sit up all by himself when he’s ready to do that!
I had this with my breakfast today.
It’s a Greek frappe. To make one, put 3 tsp instant coffee in a jar with a couple tablespoons or so of cold water and some sugar to taste (I use 2 tsp). Shake it up for about 30 seconds until it turns into a thick foam. Pour the foam into a glass (over ice, if you’re into that) and add milk and cold water. (I’m not into ice, so I didn’t use any.) It’s delicious. And since I’m breastfeeding and Postum is still discontinued, I used Folgers DECAF crystals.
Who slept through the night last night? EVERYONE! Jon put Jeremy to bed at about 8:30, but then he woke up about half an hour later wanting to nurse and continue winding himself down until about 10:00, and then I put him to bed again. I didn’t hear from him again until 5:00 this morning!
For the last couple weeks, we’ve started putting Jeremy in his own room at the beginning of the night, and he will sleep a good few hours before he starts rustling around and making his little hungry noises. At that point I’d go get him, nurse him in our bed, and then keep him in our room until morning, usually with one or two more feedings after that. For two or three nights, he was sleeping a good 4-5 hours in that first stretch of the night, and last night he slept straight through from 10pm to 5am! I noticed him just starting to move around and suck his fingers when I got up to go to the bathroom this morning, so I brought him to our bed at that time and nursed him until he fell asleep again. (He and Jon are still dozing right now.)
I know this won’t be a permanent thing yet, but it is pretty neat for now! I didn’t sleep any differently than usual though – I still woke up patting around the bed wondering why there wasn’t a baby in the crook of my arm
